PhD Seminar on Animal Behaviour

From to

This PhD Seminar includes guest speakers, discussions and workshops about animal behaviour. Two experts are invited for a seminar and discussions during the seminar.

Description

Behavioural needs are central in animal welfare: animals that cannot fulfil their species specific or individual behavioural needs may suffer from poor welfare. This PhD seminar will address the definition of behavioural needs, its relation to welfare, how behavioural needs can be determined, and methods to assess the strength of the needs. This will be discussed for a broad range of animals: from domesticated animals to wild populations. Understanding behavioural needs is crucial for expanding our knowledge on behaviour of animals and gives us practical handles to improve the welfare of captive animals.

Learning objectives

Deepen the understanding of animal behaviour through open discussion.
