Panel conversation: research fatigue in marginalized neighbourhoods
A slammed door in your face, and a low response rate – getting residents to participate in your research can be a challenge and it feels especially so in neighbourhoods that have been overwhelmed by scholarly attention. In our attempts to address exclusion and marginalization, some neighbourhoods such as Utrecht’s Kanaleneiland and Amsterdam’s Zuid-Oost have become the focal points of a lot of social-science research projects, leading to the proliferation of the term ‘research fatigue’.
In this panel with researchers, students, and stakeholders, we discuss the phenomenon: what does it look like? What does it say about how we do research? How might we approach doing research differently?
Join us for this panel with scholars across disciplines and career stages: Simone van de Wetering (Tilburg ľ¹Ï¸£ÀûÓ°ÊÓ), Marielle Zill (Utrecht ľ¹Ï¸£ÀûÓ°ÊÓ), and others.
This conversation, led by Afra Foli and Martijn van den Hurk, is organised as part of the international consortium ’s semi-annual symposium.
