Online presentation by Dr. Nancy Chick about Scholarship of Teaching and Learning in the Discipline
We are proud to invite you to a special interactive online presentation by Dr. Nancy Chick about Scholarship of Teaching and Learning in the Discipline. Subsequent to the presentation (from 17.00 鈥 17.30) there will be an extra opportunity to ask questions or talk with Nancy further about the topic of her lecture.
Although scholarly attention to student learning has been many disciplines鈥 regular practice for decades, it鈥檚 only been 30 years since the emergence of the intentional, multidisciplinary, and subsequently international field of the scholarship of teaching and learning (Boyer, 1990). With the growth of the field, however, some approaches to research may seem like 鈥渢he expectations for SoTL,鈥 leaving some potential practitioners wondering how they can do SoTL authentically, or at all. In this session, participants will ground themselves in their expertise as they explore what their SoTL work might look like.
Dr. Nancy Chick is the director of the Endeavor Centre for Faculty Development at Rollins College (Florida) and co-president of the International Society for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (ISSOTL). Nancy has authored, co-authored, edited, and co-edited a range of publications about teaching, about the results of her Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) projects, and about SoTL as a field.
