Online event: Pathways to Short Food Chains
For over a few decades now, the food supply chains have been in transition. The forces at play interacting and shaping the food chains are still the same. However, the recent pandemic has added new challenges and new opportunities. The containment measures during the COVID-19 pandemic have drastically impacted the essential flow of food from farms and producers to consumers. Many lessons will be learned once the worst effects of COVID-19 subside. The pandemic made it clear that Short food supply chains (SFSCs) have gained popularity among consumers, producers and policy-makers, locally, nationally and worldwide.
Future Food Utrecht, in collaboration with Local2Local organizes this online meeting focusing on how short food initiatives at different geographical scales are organized, which transition models are behind these initiatives, and how gaming theory can play a vital role in the engagement of actors in the food chain. We will also discuss with researchers, policymakers and entrepreneurs which issues need to be tackled and which research questions still need to be addressed.
After the presentations and discussion with the speakers we will explore which research questions might still be unanswered and whether new topics for collaborations are identified.
Are you interested in expanding your food literacy and learning about how short food chains are organized in the Utrecht Region, in the Netherlands and have a peak at alternative food networks in three different European Countries? Then, don’t mis this online event!
