On October 6th 13:15-14:15 Gert Biesta will reflect with us in his key-note lecture: what is the purpose of the university and what does this mean for the relationship between university and society? Afterwards, there is room to informally discuss the key-note (14:15-15:00).

Biesta: “At this moment, the emphasis in education is on knowledge and skills, and mainly cognitive achievements are valued. There is a need for a broader view on what good education is, in which qualification and socialization are embedded in subjectification aimed at wanting to be an adult in the world. This is not only important for the individual, but also for the quality of our democratic society and the limits that ecological problems poses to our lives and society.”
