Abstract

Spatial data plays an important role in nowadays research. However, working with geographic data and coordinates can be challenging for most researchers and R-programmers. In this presentation, we will introduce you to spatial analysis in R. We will introduce you to the and various ways to enrich your data.

New package to enrich spatial data with Open Streetmap Data

As part of the , the (SoDa) at the Methodology & Statistics department was set up to serve the social sciences and economic innovation in the Netherlands. The SoDa team will showcase their first R package `` to enrich existing data with geographic variables of Open Street Map such as "how many kindergartens are within 5 minutes driving from the participant's location?" and "Is there a public toilet within 500 meters of the given datapoint?". Throughout the talk, we use a compelling example analysis and we leave room for comments, questions, and suggestions for improvement.
