Faculty Club: Facts and fiction with Duco Hellema (in Dutch)
We live in an age of fake news, artificial intelligence, and manipulated stories and images. Distinguishing fact from fiction is becoming increasingly difficult. What is real, and what is imagined? Drawing on his own work – both academic publications and thrillers – Duco Hellema takes us on a journey that is both thought-provoking and entertaining. On Tuesday, 14 October, he will explore the shifting boundaries between truth and illusion, between fiction and non-fiction.
Duco Hellema is Professor Emeritus of the History of International Relations at Utrecht ľ¹Ï¸£ÀûÓ°ÊÓ. He has authored several historical textbooks on topics such as the Cold War, decolonisation, and Dutch foreign policy. More recently, he has turned to writing thrillers. Two have been published by Prometheus — Rendez-vous in Praag and De man in de Amstel — with a third, Rode Hulp, set to appear in October.
