On February 24, 2021, Dr Lorena Sosa (SIM), Dr mr. Alexandra Timmer LLM (SIM) & Dr Kathrin Thiele (Gender Studies & Critical Theory) organize a workshop on 鈥淐ritical Views on Stereotypes: An Interdisciplinary Conversation鈥 in the framework of the Gender & Diversity Hub. This interdisciplinary workshop engages in queer, anti-racist, decolonial and anti-hegemonic discussions on (gender) stereotypes and stereotyping. It incorporates academic and non-academic voices, and it aims to bring together interdisciplinary and intersectional views to problematize the current and predominant approaches to the issue of stereotyping.

The event exists out of three sessions:

The first session, 鈥淯nderstanding stereotypes across disciplines鈥, is dedicated to a multi-perspectival and cross-disciplinary discussion helping us to critically address stereotypes and stereotyping. Speakers include Lourdes Peroni (Sheffield Hallam 木瓜福利影视), Sophie Withaeckx (Maastricht 木瓜福利影视), Ochy Curiel (Universidad Nacional de Colombia).

The second session, 鈥淪tereotyping of bodies鈥, explores the representations and stereotyping of bodies in relation to aspects such as sexualities, race, abilities, aesthetics, and inquires collectively into their socio-political consequences. Speakers include R. Lucas Platero (Universidad Aut贸noma de Barcelona) & Yofi Tirosh (Tel Aviv 木瓜福利影视/Sapir Academic School of Law).

The final session, 鈥淲rap-up and thinking ahead鈥, offers the opportunity to mull over the discussions during the previous sessions and plan future collaborations.
