Esther studied Molecular and Cellular Life Sciences and knew she wanted to continue doing research as a PhD candidate after graduation.
She started applying for jobs at the beginning of the COVID-pandemic. Many interviews were postponed and a lot of universities stopped hiring new employees, at least until August 2020. She graduated in a period during which it was not easy to find a job. And doing job interviews online was also an experience which she had to grow into. It took a while for Esther to learn how to master the interviewing and networking skills in this ‘new world’. After becoming second in seven (!) job interviews Esther is quite familiar with the do’s and don’ts in applying for PhD positions. She also found out that a lot of PhD positions are not advertised and therefore networking is a very important aspect of finding a position. In the end Esther got to choose from two PhD positions, which both were not advertised!
During this webinar Esther will tell you everything about her search and you will learn what to expect in finding your first job.
