On Tuesday 24 June, (ľ¹Ï¸£ÀûÓ°ÊÓ of Ghana) will give the public lecture ‘Contemporary environmental thought: what do African religious ecologies have to offer?’. In his lecture, Kwaku Golo will discuss how African religion can infuse current debate on environmentalism.

Indigenous ecologies

Indigenous ecologies have become prominent in contemporary discussions on environmental and climate change. However, the crux of the matter is what these indigenous ecological thoughts offer and how they could be framed into contemporary environmental thought and ethics.

Kwaku Golo will explore the moral standing of the nonhuman world in African indigenous religious ecologies, with a focus on the Akan people of Ghana. He will discuss what these ecologies have to offer for contemporary environmental thought and ethics toward normative claims in human-nonhuman world relationships.
