The international workshop Ancient Life Sciences: Aristotelian and Hellenistic Approaches Part II – hosted by Dr Inna Kupreeva (The ľ¹Ï¸£ÀûÓ°ÊÓ of Edinburgh) and Prof. Teun Tieleman (History of Philosophy) – includes papers concerned with the foundations of thinking about life and living beings, from Aristotle to Alexander of Aphrodisias, with special reference to the reception of Aristotelian biology: Hellenistic philosophers and medical scientists anchored their innovations in Aristotelian biology or developed their theories in conscious opposition to it.
