Student in the spotlight
Nima Javanjoo, bacherlor Clinical Sciences (CS)
Nima Javanjoo (21) is in his junior year of the bachelor Clinical Sciences (CS).
Why did you choose this study?
鈥淎fter my secondary education at havo level I went for vwo because I didn鈥檛 know what I wanted yet and vwo was a requirement for many interesting studies. After that I was inclined towards veterinary medicine. At an open day at Veterinary Medicine I stumbled upon CS. A broad, clinical program after which various masters open up. That turned out to be a perfect match for my wide-ranging interests. Veterinary Medicine felt too focused while CS offers more possibilities.鈥
How do you see your future?
鈥淚鈥檇 like to keep my options open. Right now I鈥檓 leaning towards a Veterinary Medicine master, but I wouldn鈥檛 mind if I changed my mind later on. What I do know for sure, is that I want to help animals or humans in any way possible. Working in a hospital, clinic or even abroad sounds amazing.鈥
This Vetscience is dedicated to planetary health. How do you think CS students could contribute to this?
鈥淲e learn about human and animal health, as well as its connection to the health of the planet. Applied studies are important but there also need to be people who bring together knowledge and make connections. That鈥檚 what we learn at CS.鈥
鈥淟ast week鈥檚 theme was communication. How do you ensure that people from different fields understand each other and how do you prevent conflicts? We learned that being open to different ideas is essential. Fortunately that comes natural to me! I鈥檓 flexible, which helps when bringing together different personalities.鈥
