Now available: instructional videos on PetScan
Diagnosis registration in PetScan

Working with the veterinary diagnosis registration system PetScan is now supported by a series of short instructional videos (in Dutch). In the Netherlands, many veterinarians and veterinary nurses already use PetScan in practice. In addition to registering diagnoses for research and monitoring purposes, they can also retrieve a wealth of information from it. The new videos make it easier for new users to get started and help experienced users get the most out of PetScan. PetScan was developed by the Expertise Centre for Veterinary Genetics of Utrecht 木瓜福利影视.
PetScan contains extensive information relevant to the diagnostic process for dogs and cats. It includes a comprehensive diagnosis list, detailed information per diagnosis, a list of breed predispositions, a module on undesirable behaviour, and information about DNA diagnostics. In addition, PetScan offers videos on physical examinations, audio clips of heart murmurs, and useful forms such as a bite incident form and a scoring form for assessing dogs against the six Dutch legal criteria for brachycephaly. With the new instructional videos, veterinarians can easily find where to access all this information and how to use PetScan efficiently.
Collaborating for healthier breeding and prevention of diseases and disorders
Veterinarians are confronted with the negative effects of harmful physical traits and hereditary diseases in companion animals on a daily basis. By entering data into PetScan, Dutch veterinarians contribute to the prevention of these issues. The registered diagnoses provide valuable insight into ways to prevent hereditary conditions, as well as behavioural issues and the spread of infectious diseases. By analysing the submitted data, the Expertise Centre for Veterinary Genetics can conduct research and provide well-founded advice to veterinarians, breeders, and policymakers. Around 700 veterinary clinics in the Netherlands are currently connected to the system.

New website of the Expertise Centre for Veterinary Genetics
The Dutch videos are available on the new website of the Expertise Centre for Veterinary Genetics. They are categorised by topic and range in length from one to two minutes. Topics include: submitting a diagnosis, quickly locating breed predispositions, reporting a bite incident, and assessing legal criteria for brachycephaly.
PetScan is made possible with support from the partners and donors of Vrienden Diergeneeskunde, including many private donors, the Maria Naundorf van Gorkum Fund, the Abri voor Dieren Foundation, the Dutch Companion Animal Database Foundation, Royal Canin, and Anicura.
