SIG Video: David van Alten on flipped learning

tot

During this SIG Meeting David van Alten will give a layman’s talk about his dissertation (defense planned on March 19th): Flipped learning in secondary education history classrooms: what are the effects and what is the role of self-regulated learning?

Flipped learning (FL) involves students preparing learning materials before class (e.g., by watching a lecture video), and applying the learning materials during class. FL has become a widespread teaching method in all levels of education. His dissertation answers two main research questions. First, what are the effects of FL on students’ learning outcomes and satisfaction, and is this affected by certain study characteristics?  Second, what is the role of students’ Self-Regulated Learning (SRL) during FL?

About the Special Interest Group Video

Within UU an increasing group of teachers is engaged in video applications in their education. This could be in the form of knowledge clips, recording lectures, assignments in which videos are analysed, students who make a video clip instead of a report. This SIG Video is facilitated by Educate-it and wants to exchange knowledge and experience aimed at didactic use of video: 'From tool to deployment in education' and offer a platform for sharing good practices in this area. Students, teachers and educational support staff who are involved with video in education can participate in this SIG.
